Want to know what Agile and Scrum are all about? Take the first step on your Agile journey. If you’re new to the Agile world and need a solid introduction to the Agile way of thinking and doing, our Agile 101 – Introduction to Agile and Scrum is the perfect fit. Or perhaps you’re already familiar with Agile and are looking to delve deeper into the Scrum framework or are maybe just unsure as to which formal certification option would best meet your professional goals, in which case, we’ll provide some refresher training for you on the basics and walk you through the different Agile and Scrum certifications available.

This fun and interactive classroom-based training provides an overview of Agile and then explores the Scrum framework in detail, from the foundations and theory to the practical application of Scrum. The learning includes the tips, tricks and traps picked up by the hugely experienced course trainer through 10+ years of working in Agile teams.

What are the learning objectives?
By the end of this training course you will be able to:

  • Articulate the differences between Waterfall and Agile;

  • Understand the different Agile and Scrum certifications available.

What training methods will you use?
The course is much more than just a set of slides and an instructor. Participants learn through instruction, real-life cases and team-based exercises and are challenged to think on their feet to better understand what to do when they return to the workplace. Lecturing is kept to the minimum necessary, most of the learning is achieved by applying the practices and techniques in group exercises. This course will give you hands-on experience of what it means to work and think in an Agile manner. It has been designed to be interactive and features a blend of activities, exercises, in-depth discussions and presentation segments to ensure that all learning styles are engaged.

What is the training course duration?
The training will be held over the course of 1 day, starting at 9am and finishing promptly at 5pm.

What level is this aimed at?
This is considered to be a beginner or entry level training course.

Who should attend?
Anyone interested in learning more about Agile and applying the Scrum framework in their organisation (or project team) will benefit from this training. It’s particularly useful for team members starting out in Agile projects, Project Managers entering an Agile environment, Managers of teams involved in Agile development or Consultants looking for a solid grounding in an Agile approach. It’s equally excellent for those working in non-software roles and for managers and executives who interact with Agile teams who want to learn the language and basic principals.

What are the pre-requisits to booking?
Other than coming with an open mind, there are no pre-requisits to booking this training. This is an introductory Agile and Scrum 101 training course, which means there are no specific pre-requisites or prior experience needed. However, attendees are expected to complete the pre-course reading prior to attending, which will be provided one week before training commences. This is to ensure that attendees start off with the same basic understanding of Agile and Scrum and that they are able to make the most of the training available.

What’s included?

  • 1 day of classroom based training from an experienced Agile Coach;
  • a certificate of attendance;
  • a guaranteed limit on the number of attendees in the room as we believe huge classes are an obstacle to learning;

  • course workbook;
  • pre-course reading materials;
  • Agile and Scrum glossary.

Will I receive a certification?
This training does not provide formal certification. Attendees will each receive a ‘certificate of attendance only’. Your trainer will walk you through the different Agile and Scrum certification options available on the market, as well as the pros and cons of each.

What will the class size be?
To ensure you receive quality training and coaching, the maximum class size for this course has been set to just 8 attendees. Be sure to book soon while places are still available!

Emma is new to Darwin and keen to train as many people as possible in the Northern Territory on Agile and Scrum. Her strategy is to therefore undercut her competition.
